Listening to Joe Dispenza. All of the stuff on manifesting is the polar opposite of goal setting. Literally. If you “want” something, anything. The “it” that you dont have is the focus of your want. And you will never get “it” while you are stuck in the “wanting”
But isnt that the opposite of goal setting? And what about the specificity of goal setting?
I am particularly well suited for this debate, because I have been goal setting since the 80’s when I got out of rehab. I was making less than $200 a week and I set the goal for $200,000 a year. I did hit nearly $900,000 earned commissions in one year.
PS I was never more miserable. I had enough money to go anywhere. Heck even in a private jet. But I was so bored and lonely.

I also got certified as a coach for the Sedona Method. The Sedona Method teaches you to let go of your all of your “wants”. They say that everything boils down to the four basic wants wanting approval or love, security, control and oneness. I dont think I even have to explain how miserable you are going to be if you are constantly wanting approval, or love. So there is something to be said for “not” wanting. And to be clear its letting go of the uncomfortable feelings. What follows is peace and a greater likelihood of getting what you want. Again using just a quick example of wanting approval or love. No person that shows up desperately wanting love is attractive to the opposite sex. That we can all agree on. Its the same with everything.
And yes magic does happen when you let go of the wanting. Sometimes it leads directly to having. And or the intrinsic nature that we all have it all, we just need to let go of the wanting.
Ok back to JD. So he is wanting us (sorry bad choice of words LOL) He is telling us to let go of wanting and jump into the feeling of having in order to manifest. So as I look back on my life. Let me think. In a way he might be right. Because even in the goal setting they tell you to look think imagine what it would feel like if you “had” it now. PS I did see my apartment in minds eye when I was making $200 a week so, I wasnt concerned and when I first set foot in it, it was the easiest decision I ever made.
There are so many advantages to that. No 1 you dont stress out and have a heart attack or an ulcer from worrying, if you believe you will get it and it will work out. No 2 you have the ability to discern opportunities. If you are in lack and wanting you might fall prey to that Nigerian Prince that is promising to transfer $10,000,000 if he only had your bank account number. PS I literally got a letter in the mail from a law firm claiming they had a Dr Aslanian with an unclaimed $10,000,000. Dont even respond to anything like that.
As an aside. On the dark web they already have your email, phone number, maybe even the first 6 of your social security number. They are just waiting to put in the missing final detail to clean you out. So something as innocuous as the last 3 digits of your SS or your address might be all that they need. So of course I am not responding.
But back to our blog. I think that we all have to be open to all of the legitimate possibilities vs pushing too hard for that arbitrary goal. Do you know anyone who got what they set out for and is miserable? The world is full of them. Why do you think half of all marriages fail? Do you think maybe someone, or even both partners made a check list of what their goal was for their partner?
Guess what? The partner they chose was their goal. Whether it was the high school cheerleader, quarterback, or even the 10 million a year hedge fund trader, they are all divorced. I think they all would have done better if the left it up to the universe. OK you can stop reading now. I went all crunchy granola on you.
What if there is a hybrid path? It might seem antithetical. How do you set a specific goal if you are letting the universe, (PS maybe the universe is just your subconscious) help you choose the right path?
I think that you must incorporate something other than your conscious mind. Your conscious, and even your subconscious mind is being hijacked at least 100,000 times a day. 80,000 times from your internal thoughts plus another 40,000 times from your environment. Your subconscious mind at the very least has all of the wisdom and experience you have attained in your life. BUT and this is a big BUTT. You can not even depend on your subconscious if you havent let go of all of your shit.
You can tell if you have let go of what you need to let go of, if you are at peace. If you can just remain in stillness with no thoughts.
Its complicated but its not. You must get clear, let go of all the garbage, set an intention and let the universe and or your own mind be your GPS or Waze to get you there.
Dont oversteer. Dont grab the steering wheel with a death grip. Been there done that. I probably missed out on so much on the way. In fact even in recent memory. When I ran for Congress in 2010 and I was on a mission and Danny who was helping me, suggested BitCoin. If I had even been more at “ease” and thrown in a mere $1000, that would have been worth around $300 million today. I think we all need to slow down and put our ear to the ground or maybe the heaven and listen a little harder and drive a little slower.
Know that you are in good hands. Most of you reading this are probably not starving to death and probably have a roof over your head or have a friend or relative who can offer food and shelter. The rest you just might want to slow down and see what is out there for you.
You know the old saying the things you know, the things you know you dont know, and then there are the things you dont even know that you dont know. What if our whole life has been like that? Forget 300 million, its probably a billion just to put in terms you probably understand.’
Slow down expect or manifest the best and go and get it. Also know that or better. I have noticed in my life, I always expect better in all areas, and that is what I get. A bit tough now, but I need to raise my expectations and be open to all possibilities. Heck I should probably just go have fun and do stand up comedy. One never knows anything. PS almost forgot my new “buddy” for the week does some stand up. I belong to my friend Joe’s Success Circles. So each week you get a new accountability buddy. Its great fun learning from new people each week on a daily basis.
