Ok so this is an analogy for a stupid fight. I just heard the greatest line ever. My friend said they were arguing with a sibling and just said “stop, can we just stop for a second I love you too much to argue about this” Wow! what presence, what self awareness, what love, what great communication, what a beautiful vulnerable risk. And it ended just like that with a loving moment. Everyone write this down or tattoo it on your wrist. Because I promise that you will argue with a loved one about something really stupid or innocuous sooner or later. More likely sooner.
Why do people argue about stupid things? I dont think its always freudian. Sometimes you do have strong feelings about relatively stupid things. But conversely is it really that important? Isnt being present to your loving feelings what love is all about? Why would anyone argue about anything for that matter with someone they love? I dont remember reading to many buddhist parables about the Buddha arguing with people. I never heard the Priest, Rabbi or any other cleric of any denomination arguing with anyone about anything.
So I am concluding that switching to love, as my friend exemplified, is the most perfect thing any human being can do. PS I dont see cats or dogs arguing about stupid things either. It is a uniquely human oddity to argue about stupid things. If I can figure out why I will write a book about what part of the brain likes to argue about meaningless dribble. Because it actually is a character defect, now that I think about it.
But to be clear we all fall prey to it. So dont beat yourself up. I do have a goal though, Go for that line, or your interpretation of it. Thats the holy grail. To have the self awareness to stop, be vulnerable, take a risk and express your love. I cant wait to use it. I think its brilliant and loving. Heck I was going to save it could create world peace. Its not that far off.
Think about this sequence. I dont agree with your religion. My religion preaches love and tolerance. But because I dont agree with your religion, we need to go to war and slaughter each other’s families and children. Is it really that different? It truly could be applied in. a bigger context. If only our world leaders had half a brain. Its really obvious that the most powerful people on the planet are really simpletons… or evil.
Dont get me started. Reporter to Bill Gates “What can we learn from Jeffrey Epstein?” Bill Gates, “Well he is dead”. Who talks that way? Mafia bosses and other despots threaten death with those exact words.
Sorry for the segue, but it was love vs simple stupid things, love vs big things. Why are the most powerful people in the world incapable of love and integrity in leadership? Are they incapable, stupid, or are they evil?
But as far as you are concerned use it. I cant wait to have the opportunity to use that line.
