Lets take a simple example. If you are “saying I am healthy, I breathe fresh air, I exercise. I eat fresh foods, I make great choices” Isnt it going to be easier to choose eggs or a piece of fruit than a donut? If you say I am wealthy, arent you going to remember to make that one extra call? Now lets go back to the premise that we think 50,000 thoughts a day. PS you know that is true because you are literally commenting about that right now in your head or in a conversation with yourself. In fact I would propose that you have had a lot of thoughts while you were reading this paragraph you probably had at least a dozen thoughts.
So lets do the math. What do you think is going to happen if you have 50,00 negative thoughts a day? You will prove that you are right. If you think 50,000 positive thoughts a day you will probably move in the direction to prove those thoughts are true.
I know there is a theory in human behavior if you think you are or arent you are right. If you think you can or you think you cant you are right. You will also move in the direction to prove you are right. In fact dont you know someone who is constantly trying to prove they are unlucky or someone who is constantly trying to justify their lack of success? Or someone that only regales you of stories of opportunities lost and why they are a victim?
Whether you believe you are a victim or a success you are right and you will do everything in your power to prove that you are right. Isnt being right a pretty much a universal human need? Think about it and how that shows up in your life.
What about in relationships? Dont you know someone that constantly says you cant trust men, and magically proves herself right by finding only untrustworthy me or a man that says you cant trust women? PS feel free to substitute whatever non binary fluid gender or animal into that equation.
How about trying an experiment? What if you merely for one week in your life try something positive in one area of your life? Why not just spend the next 350,000 thoughts or 50,000 a day times seven talking about how you are at your ideal weight and you eat healthy food? Just try it. You dont have to ever do it again. Or if you like it you might adopt it as a habit.
Here’s the thing. You are going to talk to yourself anyway. Why not tell yourself nice things? Whats the worst thing that can happen? I have noticed whenever I say I am going to lose weight before I even go about thinking about how I am going to do it somehow magically the pounds start to drop off. Its probably because subconsciously I probably make a few good choices a day and a hundred calories here and there add up pretty quickly.
So no I kind of dont believe in mindlessly chanting affirmations. But I kind of do. I might even try it again. I think I used to do it 40 years ago. I am going to give it another go. Heck its better than saying or “chanting” all of the things I am worrying about every day. Who knows maybe its the missing key?
If you are not curious about your life and interested in learning and growing what are you doing here? And I dont mean on my blog. I mean why are you still alive if you have no desire to live your best life? I dont understand lack of curiosity and not wanting to be healthy wealthy and happy and enjoying life. I guess everyone has their purpose. Maybe that is my flaw. I assume everyone wants to be healthy wealthy and happy.
Funny just the other day someone pointed out to me that I dont ask enough questions about what someone wants. So I guess I am guilty of that. I really think everyone wants to be at the very least healthy and happy. Oh well I guess its good that I do it this way. So the people who have no interest in health happiness and beauty can just skip right over my blog.
Its actually working for me. I no longer bother my friends with my latest discovery. I put it here for those that are interested. Or I can direct someone here when they do express an interest in a particular subject I wrote about or actually did a deep dive research into.
