Are We Thinking or just vomiting memories?

I recently read that there is no thinking we are just accessing memories. OK I am not a doctor or a psychologist, but I am a thinking human being.

Ha Ha! You are right I just discredited my whole theory in my opening sentence. Or am I just reorganizing my memories?

My goal is to try to help myself and others understand our selves and others better. Is it just the word “thinking” that we use so loosely?

Or is the article true? What we call thinking is merely recalling memories?

Wow, just added the sentence above. Then of course a computer can do that better.

Voila AI Chat Gpt. I should ask chat to rewrite this and see what we get or ask chat to write it from scratch. I’ll do both.

How about we rarely think we are too busy regurgitating our memories? and PS rarely listen.

Consider the infinite Monkey theorem. “The infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type any given text, including the complete works of William Shakespeare.

How different are we? Lets try an example we can all relate to. If person A watches Fox News exclusively, they will think Donald Trump was the greatest President ever. If person B watches CNN and MSNBC they will think he is Hitler reincarnated. Is that thinking or vomiting what they watched?

I have often suggested to friends I love who I dont want to argue with that we switch up what we watch for a week then we can discuss an issue, because we are absorbing diametrically opposite information.

But this applies to everything. Last week I was talking to a friend about work, unions, bosses. Her experiences, aka memories were that the majority of bosses are aholes. I immediately picked up on our different experiences and pointed that out to her vs engaging in a useless conversation.

Check yourself on whatever the subject matter might be, especially politics. PS it is impossible to be objective. Who even invented that word? If you are observing something it is through your own lens of experiences.

Let me give you one small example but it is the buzz word of the day. I grew up in Teaneck NJ. We were literally the first town in the whole of the USA that adopted integration voluntarily in 1965.

Of course I didnt know that. It was kind of cool we were going to a central 6th grade school. My parents never uttered anything negative about it.

“At Teaneck High School, black and white students “played together; we danced together; we played sports together,” said black resident Audra Jackson, 24, while having a manicure at Naomi’s House of Beauty.

Plus my favorite thing was basketball. Sorry for being racist, but the best players were black. I apologize, I guess.

So I literally have no idea, what Joe Scarborough, who had said we are all racist because he had a confederate flag in his bedroom or Joe Biden who was good friends with, literally Klansmen are talking about.

PS I had the Black Panther flag and was reading Soul on Ice. My French cousin gave it to me when he stopped to visit after teaching at Princeton for the semester, on his way to Cuba to help Castro with the sugar harvest.

I guess I assume that everyone has had the luxury of the diversity of opinion I was exposed to and that everyone is curious.

So the people, who are literally racist assume we are all racist. And silly me. I assume that everyone grew up like me in a 60/40 town and are not racist. Sorry for the segue. But none of us are thinking, including me, we are just remembering our experiences.

Very few people receive a diversity of opinions on anything.

Did I go off topic? Maybe in the most perfect way. Because I see so many unhappy people because of politics.

I dont know where this country is going, but I am not going to get my panties in a twist.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

I ran for Congress. Sadly its a good ole boys club. Who gets to be the nominee at every level is chosen by the tiny minority of delegates or by a primary. Very few are even aware of when the primaries are held, let alone vote in primaries.

Try to think. If you are going to do nothing more than think like a monkey at least emulate Curious George

Ask yourself constantly if you are just vomiting your memories? It will lead to a lot more peace, when you find the predjudice in your thinking, that is unnecessary or even evil.

PS we prejudge everything or you would never even be able to wake up and drive to work.

You assume which is hot and cold water. You assume and prejudge that people will drive on the right side of the road. You assume and prejudge which foods are safe to eat. You assume they will stop at the red lights and stop signs.

And dont let anyone tell you that you are prejudiced for avoiding large gangs of youths brandishing weapons, whether they are white, yellow, brown or black.
